Systems Development Laboratory
The
Stanford University Space Systems development Laboratory in the Department of
Aeronautics and Astronautics is now going on it's tenth year since its
establishment in January 1994. The
program objective in SSDL was to teach graduate students Systems Engineering
through hands-on project based classes.
What
has been accomplished to date. Students
have built and launched two microsatellites.
There are a number of new smaller picosatellites under development with
starting launch dates this year. A
group of undergraduate students took on a challenge only attempted by Japanese
graduate students at the annual Black Rock Desert Rocket program - ARLISS.
What did they learn? We also
have a new, active weather station in Antarctica with live pictures and datea
being returned daily.
What is in the future for SSDL? Maybe the Moon.
